Jake Parker Inspired Flyer

I like Jake Parker’s designs. I find a lot of inspiration in his work. I’m not much of a fan of straight lines and I like the fun, round shapes he draws. The idea for this was really inspired by his works. Nothing in particular but everything at the same time. Does that make sense? It’s more whimsical than what I usually make. It has a real Jake Parker vibe. It’s about 1:48 scale and I’ll add a pilot figure for some reference.

The main ingredients for it were a “gacha” ball (Japanese gumball machines), a lid from a milk container and a plastic Easter egg. Other parts include some bits from the parts box, a water bottle lid and a lid from a tube of toothpaste (rear thruster). Plastic lids are awesome parts and I hate to throw them away.

I cut a hole in the top of the egg wide enough that the lid from the milk container would fit inside. I cut the center out of a water bottle lid and placed a wheel from a tank kit inside it. The water bottle lid was then added inside of the milk container lid. Everything fit just right and it looks really cool.

I covered the gotcha ball and egg half with Aves FixIt. I like to cover plastic parts with putty to have a nice surface things can be glued onto and panel lines can be etched into. I’ve had problems in the past with the glue not sticking to some plastics. This has been one of my quickest builds. I’ve spent a little over a week on it and it’s almost complete. Just the usual adding details and panel lines.

It’s been pointed out that it also has a very Akira Toriyama vibe to it. I have to agree.
