Junk Bits

Projects built using recycled junk parts (ie bottle caps, plastic spoons, plastic eggs, etc)

P.O.P. Eye

Here’s one of the new projects I’ve been working on. I had an idea in my head of making a robot with lots of round surfaces. I wanted him really “bubbly” looking and cartoonish. He went through several iterations before I finally decided I needed to move on.  I’m not completely satisfied on how he ...

Jake Parker Inspired Flyer

I like Jake Parker’s designs. I find a lot of inspiration in his work. I’m not much of a fan of straight lines and I like the fun, round shapes he draws. The idea for this was really inspired by his works. Nothing in particular but everything at the same time. Does that make sense? ...

Rocket Lobster

Yet another sea creature design. Told you I like ’em. But this one was unintentional. My daughter saw it on the shelf and said it looked like a lobster.

Inspiration comes and goes quickly…

This is one of my earliest builds, maybe it’s my first or second. I had inspiration after finding an old computer mouse and some ...

Sakana

I love sea creatures. Did I mention that before? The idea for this came from the Blue Man Group show of all things. During the pre show they had a couple of giant eyeball floating around the auditorium. They had flowing fins like a fish. My daughter and I were discussing ideas for art, and ...

Alien Astronaut

Another bust I made. It started life as a robot, but changed over time to an alien astronaut…or something. Parts used were plastic spoons, legos, car air freshener, and used ear buds. Apoxie putty was used to build up the form and blend the shapes.

WarBot! Now with feet!

A quick update on the WarBot! build. I’ve built the feet and got him primed. Need to finish his hands and build a small pistol for him to hold.

Originally I planned this at 1:35 scale, but it’s too large. I think 1:20 looks better. Doh! Should’ve taken a photo with it next to a scale ...

WarBot!

Inspired on the designs of Ashley Wood’s World War Robot series. I am a big fan of those rusty bots.

This is my version in roughly 1/35 scale. I combined the Bertie and Martin designs.

The body is built from the bottom half of two capsules I had in my parts box. The back pack is the ...

Eggship

Here’s yet another design that uses a plastic Easter egg. I must admit I really like the shape.

I cut the top of the egg off and added some details into the opening. I think I used a disc from some Warhammer bits…a Tau drone maybe? At the bottom of the egg I put the top ...

BOT HEAD

I think this is one of the first projects I started working on. Ugh, and sadly it remains unfinished.

I created this robot head using bottle caps, a plastic Easter egg and a key from an old keyboard. I was just learning how to do things when I was working on this and had a lot ...

Medium Hover Tank

I’m a procrastinator. If it were a job, I’d be a professional. If it paid money, I’d be really rich and wouldn’t have to do anything. (I could hurt my brain if I followed that chain of thought.)

I spend way too much time surfing the internet looking for inspiration and cool ideas. Check out my Pinterest ...
